JR Yokohama line extends for 42.6km from Higashi Kanagawa station of Tokaido line through Hachioji station of Chuo line with a double track and electrification along the whole line. Lots of residential districts are along the line, and also schools are. It has been in the black since the period of Japan National Railways.

At that time, light green cars converted from Yamanote line and sky blues' from Keihin Tohoku line had been arranged for each train in Yokohama line. I investigated which arrangements were on the track, as below. Unfortunately, I do not know the serial numbers and the roundhouse that each car had belonged.

Specially colored Type 103 with a special sign was on the track, and we could see a commemorative train of KUMOHA 40. And Type 205 just appeared at that day.

Direct Service through Sagami Line
For useful access to the beach, some trains went directly from Hachioji station through Chigasaki station, which is the terminal of Sagami line, during summers. Sagami line was without its electrification at that time, so diesel cars were used. Now, electric car Type 205-500's goes through Sagami line as regular trains.

Direct Service through Chuo Line
It is a special train "Sagami Lake Hiking" from Higashi Kanagawa station through Sagamiko station on Chuo line. Orange colored Type 201 with 6 cars had never been used on Yokohama line so far. It should pass Katakura station, but it was stopping there to pass with the opposite train because of a single track then. Thank you for the information from "O" who is the webmaster of
