- REPORT -

Practice & Qualifying Heat

Reflecting on my handling at Round 3 , I Paid my attention for the below on driving.
  1. More slowly handling, especially braking
  2. Smoothly steering and working the accelerator together
  3. Looking farther, especially at the exit of the hairpin corner
Only those things made my driving at the previous race, such as just about to go out of the course at the hairpin corner due to hard understeering, or jerky movement the last corner through the home straight, improve and drive more smoothly on the whole course. I could not get so good lap times though I went into the track third and got clear laps. The other entries that went into the track later than me told me that they could not easily get clear laps. Golf was running slowly on my fully attacking and I overtook him, thinking he might have had some trouble, but he overtook me after following me a little. He told me later that he had been trying to get clear laps.

Heat 1

I started by the green signal showed before I had expected. I went outside without so fast speed, which worked against me and I was passed by Demio at 2nd corner that started from left behind. Though I did not know about the leading groups, Cedia Wagon went through the hairpin corner following AW, Demio. But it was very hard for me to even only follow Demio that I had been able to get the better place until Round 2, let alone overtake SW and Demio. Seeing the back of Demio, I got the checker flag eighth, helped by MGF and Saxo's going out of the course.

Heat 2

I was pushed hard and hard just after the green signal! "Okay, go ahead", because I did not want any crash. 996, 306, MGF, and Saxo passed me one after another. I had never worried about the rearview mirror so much. I got 12th place, followed only by Integra.

Final Heat

Standing going outside just after the green signal, I went outside after getting a speed, and then, it helped me overtake Saxo, 996, Ferio, MGF, and Demio in an instant and go up to 7th place. But I was passed by MGF, Saxo, and 996 one after another. 996, which is Tiptoronic, showed us a terrific acceleration at the straight. Passed by Ferio at 11th lap, and at the final lap, wanting the checker flag coming soon, I was passed also by Demio! Just after that, I got the checker flag. I was careless about him.

Tires just after lapping
Left Front- Terrible!Right Front- The tread is OK, though...

Lapping

After the race, there were lapping sessions with \2,000/20 minutes. I drove in one session and tested what I had noticed in the race.
I was not aware if the two points above could affect the lap times because not timed. I would like to confirm at the next race.
I was surprised to see the tires after lapping! Some blocks on the tread of the left front tire had broken, like the one at Enduro in August, 2001 ! I remember the tires with TOYOTA Levin Type 92 then were Bridgestone Grid II as this time. I hope this trouble came from its characteristic of this kind of tire and such high temperature today. The right front tire was also shaved into the middle of the side wall, which means it had been on the track on turning left.
